Scarlet Tanager

I love to bird watch but find it very frustrating trying to identify what species of bird I see. So it is always fun to see a bird that I recognize. I was fortunate to see 4 Scarlet Tanagers in a tree last weekend. They are recognizable because it is the only red bird in North America with black wings! As the summer progress the birds feathers turn green but right now they are brilliant red and just stunning to watch.
My picture isn't of the best quality, the birds were high in a tree and despite my poor photographic skills the beauty of the bird shines through!

The birdhouses are adorable and the bird in your post is so pretty. Thank you so much for your post on my blog about health insurance. I really appreciate your input and comment.

Oh but I like your photo of it. The little bird just pops with its red color, and I I like that he is perched on those leafless branches :-)

Amazing that it's color changes as season change. That's interesting to know. :-)

I enjoy watching other birds outside too. I feed my birds outside and that can get costly but well worth it. You need to get a good bird book, they even have some with the sounds they make.

Enjoy your day-
